The Mission of SpudWare®

SpudWare®, it makes a connection. When you realize that plastic can be made of vegetable that is one thing. But the potato is everyday news, ordinary like plastic. Why is it that a material so involved in our day to day lives has no part in public education. I am talking about ordinary plastic. It is everywhere, yet we remain uneducated. The mission of SpudWare® is to educate and connect. The mundane with the magic.  Knowing that you always have a choice and make a choice. Now we bring SpudWare.com to life. I know a lot about foodservice packaging made from bio-based materials and will answer questions now. Maybe we can have a conversation.

Which is worse: Using petroleum based products or GMO corn based products? Please talk about all of the effects of growing GMO corn, the amount of petroleum used support the growth, the land used to grow corn for the convenience of throw-away products instead of for food and anything you can think of.

Corn, GMO or not will not be the feedstock of future bio-polymers. The movement is toward utilizing waste feedstocks from forest and agriculture. This is in the form of any biomass material. Like forest trimmings or the wheat stalks in eastern washington. We are in the process of turning away from a non-degradable waste stream to a compostable one. This is a step wise process and so compromises will be made along the way. Perfection is a good goal, there are real things that can be done to start to move to a sustainable waste system using ag waste feedstock grown in the region the product is used. Then compost or burn for green energy and the circle is complete.
