When I think of green jobs, agricultural waste utilization comes to mind. All over the United States plants are growing because that is what they do. The growth includes valued material and unvalued material. The corn is eaten but the stalk is left to rot. These cheap waste streams can be used to fuel the development of green jobs. The technology exists to take any agricultural waste stream and turn it into foodservice packaging or fuel. This is so obvious, especially in cases like southern california where rather than harvest the native brush, it burns catastrophically, bringing all the grief that uncontrolled fire causes. Managing that brush would certainaly be a green job.
